100% Chlorine Free The original Moltex Oko used 50% unbleached cellulose giving the diaper this natural brown colour. The other half was bleached using hydrogen, a process allowing Moltex to produce a diaper free of any residue which could be harmful to your baby’s skin, and to the environment. After a series of customer surveys the manufacturer has decided to produce a white colour Moltex Oko by using the same hydrogen bleaching process but for the entire diaper. The result is a white diaper which is still free of any harmful residue. The new diaper is identical to the old one: it is still 100% chlorine and chemical free, only difference is that it is white.
Absorbent gel stores urine and keeps baby's skin dry therefore preventing the formation of chemical compounds like ammonia known to cause skin rashes. In the Moltex Oko, 20% of the conventional absorbent gel 'polyacrylate' has been replaced with a totally biodegradable and natural absorbent gel made from maize starch.
Conventional disposable diapers commonly use lotions or deodorants in order to keep the odours away. In addition, manufacturers can add antioxidant in order to keep these chemicals from turning rancid. This accumulation of chemicals can be damaging to your baby's skin and cause irritation, if not more (see http://archive.greenpeace.org/pressreleases/toxics/2000may192.html on warning against TBT, another chemical found in many diapers).
The Moltex Oko does not use any lotion, antioxidants, dyes or deodorant.
The Moltex Oko has a unique breathable back-sheet made of 100% biodegradable material. And by the way, the packaging is totally biodegradable as well.
This is the unique feature of this disposable diaper: it can be totally composted in a wormery in 8 weeks (see http://www.ecobaby.com for more information). This means that the Moltex Oko does not need to add to our landfills, or does not need to be burnt (generating ashes and needing fuel) to disappear. The by-product of this process is very high grade compost which can be used as fertilizer by gardeners. |

Moltex Oko Nappies: Safe for our Babies, Safe for our Environment
We are pleased to announce that the Moltex Oko is the only disposable diaper in Singapore which has been awarded the "Green Label Singapore" by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). The green labelling (or eco-labelling) refers to a scheme which awards environment-friendly products with eco-labels. Many consumer products in the market whether directly or indirectly, through their manufacturing processes, usage, or disposal, have an impact on our environment. They may cause pollution or deplete our natural resources. The green label programme is a way to recognise that there are products on the market which have less undesirable effects on our environment. The award of the green label demonstrates that the Moltex Oko nappy is not only as good as other brands of disposable diapers but it is also the only environmentally friendly diaper available in Singapore.
